You can nearly forgot about your trackpad or magic mouse, everything is done from the keyboard. It is still a very good complement to spotlight (even the last version of it). And there is a great community of users that provides very useful workflows. Even with the new Spotlight, it still gives very good extra functions.
This app is amazing, and for sure not just an app luncher. Got TONS of nice features! Totally recommended! Try it, you will love :D
Almost buy it. If it could launch applications by pre-programmed (i.e. triggers on QuickSilver), I would. So, lets get back to QuickSilver.
Soooo fast! In the begining I thought I was never going to actually use it, but now I just found myself another reason to feel weird when using windows... Really helpful and free, the perfect combination! Cheers!
I’ve been using Alfred for a month now and this app is very handy! Even though it’s such a short period of time, I feel like cannot use my mac without Alfred anymore :-)
Sehr gut programmiert. Dank an die Entwickler! English: I bought a similar app….that does not work as promised. Therefore I deleted it. But Alfred ist wonderful….and this for free! I do recommend this application and ask myself how I could live without Alfred in former times….Very well programmed….Thanks to the developers!
If there is one application that makes a difference for everybody and improves things for everyone, it is Alfred. No matter what software one is using for productivity or daily simple tasks, there is either Alfred or an Alfred extension for it. Everything becomes simpler and faster and by that I mean really EVERYTHING. One becomes rather lazy, which is probably the only (but by no means negative) side effect of using it. The best thing, which matters most to me, is that it is rock solid and simple. The ergonomics of an application are often shamelessly overlooked.
The App is great - I use it everyday and makes life easy to find the data or web url you are looking for. Thanks to the Alfred Team
True Story.
This software manages to pack in a ton of great time-saving features (including what would be some very geeky functionality) but packs it into an app with a simple and easily learned user interface that looks very nice. You wont ever use Apples Spotlight menu directly again, since this app makes searching so much better. This developer has also made an excellent break between free and paid features. The free app has invaluable search and launcher features that would be worth paying for on their own. Once you realize how great the free stuff is, theres a good chance youll want to pay them for the PowerPack to get more awesome.
Alfred sure makes it easy to do tech support for my Mom over the phone! I use Launchbar myself, but Alfred does a great job for most people!
One may think that his is useless since one could simply use Spotlight instead for many of the features of Alfred, but once you try Alfred you will see that Spotlight looks very inefficient next to Alfred. Alfred simply does it faster and is the best way to get to your files and aplications quickly. This is definitely a must-have app. I switched the key-combination, I used to use for Spotlight, to the key-combination for Alfred.
Its a great app! I truly recommend that you get it, and I LOVE THE WOLFRAM SUPPORT!!! :)
Quicksilver has this, and its the only reason I cant switch to Alfred. All my most valuable documents, mail etc are in secure encrypted sparse bundles. I point Alfred to them, but no luck :( Other than that, its pretty nice.
Always at your service, Alfred is everything you need - nothing you dont. Love it!
Ive been a nut for "launchers" since QuicKeys for Mac Os... 7? or so. Since Mac OS X, Ive used Quicksilver, but it wasnt actively developed and slowly succumbed to entropy. Then I switched to Butler, which was pretty darned good, but I found much of it beyond simple application launching to be opaque, requiring a steep learning curve. The free version is, well, free! But of course, I had a sunken investment into Butler, but I find that many of the facilities are easier to use, with better online help, in Alfred. But what cinched the switch for me is that with an upgrade to the £15 Powerpack, I now can invoke shell scripts AppleScripts and other nifty things. What Id like to see (and Ive pinged the developer about): * Clipboard sharing between computers using Bonjour. The developer has expressed a concern about network traffic, but Im sure they can figure out how to deal with that. Until that time comes, Ill keep supplementing Alfred with the excellent, free "Scrapbook" multi-clipboard utility that lets you share clipboards on your LAN. * Making clipboard actions and scripts available via a Service. (BTW: you need to get Alfred Powerpack from Running With Crayons, Ltd. directly, since some of its capabilities seem to be at odds with Apples Sandboxing policy for the App Store.) All in all, Im pretty happy with Version 1.0, and look forward to future enhancements and upgrades.
must have application,,,,
Snappy, simple and beautiful.
For every app, there are those who like it, those who love it, and those who just dont. Alfred, however, is different. With the proper configuration, Alfred can make your life on your computer a lot simpler and easier. This is an app that I would absolutely recommend for EVERYONE. Whether you think youll like it or not, try it out. I guarantee youll love it as much as I do. I have the Alfred Powerpack, and it says I use Alfred on average, 74 times a day...that sounds about right. I use Alfred all the time. I use it to launch apps, launch websites, search stuff up, define words, do calculations, turn my wifi on/off, resize my windows...you get the idea. And you can even change the colors for that Alfred box thing!! In the end, I just have one message: get this app.
