Works well, but needs more configuration...
Alfred works fairly well, but Ive found that its searching preferences are far too high-level for my use. I currently use Quicksilver to launch most of my applications, and various files that I use on a day-to-day basis. Alfred works very well for launching applications, as does Quicksilver and Spotlight, but where it falters is in the opening of files directly.
Quicksilver can open numerous file types, including an Excel spreadsheet, PDF files, and an AU Lab document, all three of which I use on an almost daily basis. I can get Alfred to show the Excel spreadsheet and PDF files by enabling the necessary options to search (Documents, I believe), but it wont pick up the AU Lab document I use for a system-wide equalizer unless I tell it to include all files. At that point, it shows obscure files from 6 levels down inside an application in /Applications, which doesnt do me any good. I cant tell it to just look two levels down into the /Applications folder, as Quicksilver can, which completely ruins it for my use. Ill stick with Quicksilver, thank you very much.
